Our Wendy House Wishes Cottage is a complete post and beam house built in child scale. We build it to be a safe and magical environment. We build it to withstand the elements. We build it to stand up to your child's active limbs and imagination. We build it to last for generations

But first, we design it. The main room of our Cottage is  8' x 10', with a 4' porch area and a window bay inside. We review the Cottage layout with you and plan out color schemes and decoration details in advance. Certain optional accessories such as roof cupolas, fencing, and landscaping are available and can be integrated into the design of the Cottage. We help you to select the site of your cottage, but really any flat piece of land with good light works well. Please note that certain towns require building permits for structures such as our Cottage, and we will ask you to review these details in your locality.

Our Cottages are built on site by a team of licensed contractors. This part of the process takes 2-3 weeks  and mirrors normal house construction. First, a wooden platform is laid down to provide a foundation  for the cottage. The walls and roof are framed out using high quality construction wood. The walls and roof are paneled and lined for maximum durability before the finishing begins. On the exterior, the siding panels are attached and the roof is finished with shingles. In the interior, sheetrock walls are constructed, followed by the beautiful wood paneled ceiling and wainscotting on the walls.

Last, the details begin to emerge via the railings on the porch, latticework from the roof, and moldings everywhere inside and out. The fireplace is framed on the main wall. The windows are fitted and installed. And finally, the stable door takes shape in the doorway of the Cottage.

Once construction is complete, the decoration process begins. The exterior is painted the color of your choosing, the moldings and railings sanded and painted, the porch stained to your specifications. The interior walls are decorated with a hand-painted "wallpaper", the wainscotting and moldings stained, the ceiling finished, the fireplace completed with a chalkboard, and last, the floor hand-stained in a bright checkerboard pattern. Whimsical accessories - floral window knows, spade doorknockers - and curtains emerge to complete the magic of the Cottage. And throughout this process, your children can delight in seeing their dream house being built every step of the way.
